A BTech student from Marripudi mandal in Prakasam district, frustrated that his news articles were not being published on an app, himself sent a fake news report stating he had committed suicide. When the news went viral, college staff and police searched the hostel and contacted his parents, thereby revealing the truth. During police inquiry, the student admitted he did so because crime news gets published quickly, leaving police shocked and issuing a warning to him.
